Democratic Congressman Joaquin Castro of Texas favors the passage of a Voting Rights Act. President Biden is using this week's anniversary of the January 6th unrest at the Capitol to push for the passage of the bill, which has already passed the House. Castro says it would make it so that states with a history of discrimination would need to get permission to change voting laws. The bill has stalled out on the Senate because of Republican opposition. It lacks enough support to overcome the filibuster.
