Bexar County's pandemic risk level is once again "severe" because of the effects of the omicron surge. Metro Health officials made the decision this week because of the rise in daily virus cases over the last two weeks, the increased stress on the local hospital system, and a local positivity rate of more than 27-percent. Metro Health says omicron accounts for 90-percent or more of the county's cases. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg is urging people to get vaccinated, which he says helps to prevent severe illness.
