The Texas Secretary of State's Office announced the results from the first part of its 2020 election audit on New Year's Eve. State officials reported very little discrepancies between ballot counts in Harris, Dallas, Tarrant and Collin County precincts. The Secretary of State's office is investigating 67 votes that may have been cast by people who were deceased. Governor Greg Abbott announced the election audit in September, with Secretary of State John Scott stating it will "restore voters' trust" in Texas's election systems. The audit will continue this year.
