The 49ers are inching closer to a playoff berth. Rookie Trey Lance threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran in for another as the Niners topped the Texans 23-7 in Santa Clara. Lance got the start in place of the injured Jimmy Garoppolo. Elijah Mitchell had a TD catch and ran for 119 yards to set a rookie franchise record for rushing yards in a season. He's at 878 rushing yards entering the regular-season finale. At 9-and-7. the Niners can clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Rams in Week 18. San Francisco also still has a chance even with a loss. Davis Mills threw for 163 yards, one TD, and an interception for Houston, which dropped to 4-and-12.
