District Judge Says Enforcement Of Texas Abortion Law Is Unconstitutional

A Texas judge says parts of the state's new abortion law are unconstitutional. Retired District Judge David Peeples says enforcement mechanisms of the law deny due process and violate the state constitution. Peeples nonetheless did not issue an injunction to block the law, so it's still in place. The law bans all abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, and it allows anyone to sue abortion providers and other people who "aid and abet" them, without plaintiffs having to prove they were harmed by the actions.
