Gov. Greg Abbott's executive order banning local mask mandates is back in place, thanks to a federal court. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals restored Abbott's ban last week. The decision follows Attorney General Ken Paxton's appeal of a ruling by a federal court in Austin that allowed schools to require masks in defiance of the governor's order. An advocacy group had claimed that the governor's order put disabled children at risk. The three-judge panel stated that Abbott's order had resulted in no actual or imminent injury.
