Texas Biomed Prepares For Work On Omicron Variant

Texas Biomed is working with the World Health Organization to obtain samples of the omicron coronavirus variant for research purposes. Dr. Larry Schlesinger, president and CEO of Texas Biomedical Research Institute, says the variant so far can only found be in one lab in South Africa, the country where omicron was recently discovered. The African Health Research Institute will grow the variant, sequence it, and deposit it at the W-H-O biorepository. From there, samples will be distributed to labs worldwide for testing and research.
