Southwest Offers Staff Extra Pay To Avoid More Canceled Flights

Southwest Airlines is rolling out new incentives for their employees with the goal of avoiding more canceled flights. According to an internal memo, the Texas-based airline is hoping to avoid cancelled flights over the busy holiday travel period, amid concerns over staffing. Pilots, flight attendants and other operational employees could receive Rapid Rewards points valued at over 14-hundred dollars. The airline is also offering as much as triple pay to ground operations employees working Thanksgiving through Christmas and double time for overtime shifts, up from time-and-a-half.
