CPS Energy has spent more than $7 million on legal costs to fight natural gas bills from the February winter storm. Earlier this year, the utility filed nearly 20 lawsuits against a list of its natural gas providers and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. CPS paid the legal fees to five law firms and two consultants in pursuit of the lawsuits. The utility stated on Tuesday that it doesn't plan to change its legal strategy now that president and CEO Paula Gold Williams has resigned and been replaced by Rudy Garza.
