It's Election Day in Texas. Voters across the state will decide on eight proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution, but some residents will have additional items on the ballot. The hotly-debated Proposition A in Austin would require a minimum number of police officers in the city, and increase their hours of training. Supporters of Prop A say it will make the city safer, while opponents, which include Mayor Steve Adler and the Austin Firefighter's Association, believe the high cost would be a detriment to other Austin services. There is also a special election for the Texas House in San Antonio to replace Democratic Representative Leo Pacheco.
