Texas Offers Free Year Of Child Care To Parents In Service Industries

The state is working to ease the labor shortage affecting the service industries by offering a year of free child care to employees. The Texas Workforce Commission recently granted 43-million-dollars to Workforce Solutions Alamo to cover 12-months of child care expenses for people working in bars, restaurants, and the entertainment industry. An executive with the nonprofit says about 700 families are currently enrolled in the free program, but more than four-thousand slots are still available.
