A new task force created by Gov. Greg Abbott aims to attract semiconductor investment to Texas. The task force is working with the semiconductor industry, universities, and community leaders to draft a proposal for the Department of Commerce to choose Texas as the home for a couple of semiconductor-related institutes the federal government is creating. Abbott established the task force to respond to a global shortage of semiconductors. GOP Senator John Cornyn of Texas co-authored the CHIPS for America Act, intended to boost American competition with Chinese tech manufacturing.
