The Texas Education Agency is appointing a monitor to the South San Antonio ISD. The local district has had more than half-a-dozen superintendents in the past ten-years. The current superintendent, Dr. Marc Puig, has been on the job a little more than a year, and he and the district's board of trustees are already at odds. The state agency is appointing Dr. Abe Saavedra to monitor the situation and try to keep things running smoothly. Saavedra is on familiar ground, since he's a former SSISD superintendent himself.
