Rays Blank Astros, Clinch Top Seed In AL

The Rays clinched the top seed in the American League playoffs. Tampa Bay blanked the Astros 7-0 in Houston, to secure the number-1 seed and the best record in franchise history. Ji-Man Choi lead the offense with a three-run blast in the fifth. Brandon Lowe also added a two-run homer for the Rays, who have won five of their last six. Drew Rasmussen threw five scoreless frames to pick up his fourth win on the mound. Houston managed only three hits as it dropped its fifth game in its last six. Luis Garcia took his eighth loss, allowing six runs in five innings.
