The Department of Justice is filing an emergency motion to try and stop Texas from implementing its new abortion law. The DOJ argues in its motion that the Lone Star State adopted the measure "to prevent women from exercising their constitutional rights." The department has already announced it will sue Texas over the restrictive law that prohibits abortions as early as six weeks into a pregnancy. Earlier this month, the Supreme Court denied abortion providers' emergency request to block the law from going into place.
