The Cowboys are settling on Cooper Rush to be their backup quarterback this season. Dallas chose Rush after a three-man preseason battle for the spot behind starter Dak Prescott. The team released Garrett Gilbert and Ben DiNucci among the cuts made to get the roster down to 53 players. Multiple sources did report that the Cowboys will look into signing Cam Newton after he was released by the Patriots on Tuesday.Â
