Catholic Charities will start helping hundreds of Afghan refugees resettle in San Antonio this week. At a news conference on Tuesday, CEO Antonio Fernandez said they're asking the public for donations of food, clothing, and toiletries. Fernandez and San Antonio Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller said as many as 342 refugees will start arriving as soon as today. The Center for Refugee Services says six Afghan families, totaling about 40-people, reached San Antonio on Monday. Afghanistan collapsed after President Joe Biden's abrupt withdrawal of U.S. forces.
