The Astros are not expecting Justin Verlander to pitch at all this season. General manager James Click said the pitcher will not throw this season, almost a year removed from his Tommy John Surgery in October of 2020. Verlander had said in May there was a possibility he could return as a reliever for a postseason run with Houston. The two-time CY Young Award winner will instead turn to his focus to returning fully healthy in 2022.
