Texas House Committee Approves Nearly 2 Billion Dollars For Border Security

A Texas House committee is moving a bill that would provide funding for Gov. Greg Abbott's efforts to secure the southern border. The House Appropriations Committee approved the nearly two billion dollar bill on Tuesday by a 14-to-8 vote. The committee voted after hearing seven hours of testimony from sheriffs, state police officials, immigrant advocates, and an adviser to Abbott. Rep. Greg Bonnen, a Friendswood Republican, sponsored the bill, which would pay to prosecute illegals for trespassing, build border fences, and send state troopers to the border.
