A doctor referral is why Texas Governor Greg Abbott was able to get coronavirus antibody treatment. An Abbott spokesperson says the governor got the prescription shortly after he tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. The spokesperson also says the Regeneron antibody treatment is available for free to Texans who get a doctor's referral. The drug has been praised for helping people with COVID avoid hospitalization. Regeneron and the federal government ran a trial earlier this year showing the antibody treatment also helps asymptomatic COVID cases. Texans can get information on Regeneron at meds.tdem.texas.gov
