Austin ISD is requiring masks again in spite of Governor Abbott's executive order. Superintendent Doctor Stephanie Elizalde made the announcement yesterday at a board meeting where trustees heard from dozens of parents. This comes after a recent survey found that 80-percent of more than 27-thousand Austin ISD families were planning to send their children to school wearing a mask. The mask mandate goes into effect on Wednesday. Dallas ISD has enacted a similar measure and Houston ISD is expected to as well later this week.
