After a year when enrollment plummeted because of the pandemic, area school leaders say summer school classes this year are up -- way up. They say most of the 9,000 students they've seen this last month are students who were struggling -- and they're the students who usually benefit from summer school. At Northside Independent Schools, enrollment was well above last year, especially at the grade school level. Last year, enrollment totaled about 4,000 and this year, Northside reports enrollment topped 7,000.
