At least ten people are dead after a crash on a remote south Texas highway. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Nathan Brandley says the van believed to be carrying migrants was apparently speeding when it tried to turn and smashed into a metal utility pole Wednesday near Encino. Thirty people were in the van that's designed to carry 15 passengers. The survivors of the crash have serious to critical injuries. Encino is about 60 miles north of the border with Mexico between McAllen and Falfurrias.
