For the first time since President Richard Nixon was in office, there are no Texans in the presidential Cabinet. Ever since his inauguration in January, President Joe Biden has selected his top tier of presidential advisers from other states. Texans have been nominated or confirmed to leadership positions with the Census Bureau, immigration, and the Air Force. But on Capitol Hill, only one U.S. House committee chair is from Texas, down from seven the last time the GOP was in charge of the House.
