Nirenberg, Wolff Plan To Ask Abbott For OK To Require Masks In Schools

Local leaders plan to ask Gov. Greg Abbott for the authority to enforce masks in schools and government buildings as coronavirus cases surge. Officials announced Wednesday that San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff plan to send a letter to Abbott requesting local say-so in the matter. The governor's order prevents local officials from enforcing masks. Metro Health is urging everybody, including people who are fully vaccinated, to wear masks indoors, following the latest guidance from the CDC.
