Federal Government To Help Rural Texas Counties Vaccinate Residents

Texas is receiving about $7 million in federal funds to divide among 142 rural health clinics. The federal government is providing the funds to states in order to increase vaccination rates in rural counties. Some rural counties exceed the 15% hospitalization threshold that would lead to mandatory reductions in business occupancy. Officials say the spread is caused largely because of unvaccinated residents. The federal government program is intended to help change that. Health officials say nearly 95% of all COVID hospitalizations involve unvaccinated patients.
