The Texas General Land Office is being criticized over its rebuilding plan for certain homes destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner told reporters today the GLO is reducing the value of houses owned by seniors and minorities in Pleasantville and Sagemont by not restoring them to their original condition. Turner says the GLO has claimed the downsizing happened due to money constraints, but noted the department is willing to upgrade other houses. He wants the federal government to take note of what's going on, believing it violates the Fair Housing Act.
