There is a civil arrest warrant out for the Democratic Texas House member who briefly returned to Austin before going back to Washington, DC. Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan signed the warrant for San Antonio Representative Philip Cortez yesterday, saying his trust had been broken. Phelan also accused Cortez of lying to fellow House members by saying he was just going to temporary leave the House floor, but then got on a plane. Cortez said last week he returned to the Texas Capitol for negotiations on the elections security bill. He's now promising to stay in DC to prevent a quorum in Austin to protect the freedom to vote. Cortez will not face arrest unless he returns to Texas where he'll be taken back to the capitol.
