The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District has a new director as of this month, just in time to deal with a resurgence of coronavirus cases. Claude Jacobs took over the position on July 6th, more than a year after the abrupt resignation of his predecessor, Dawn Emerick. Several other people have held the job on an interim basis in the meantime. Jacobs brings more than 20 years' experience in public health to the job, most recently as head of the Cambridge Public Health Department. He says he wants to make wearing a mask as uncontroversial as wearing a seat belt or a bike helmet.
