Texas COVID Positivity Rate Exceeds 10% For The First Time Since February

State health officials say the coronavirus test positivity rate in Texas is higher than ten-percent for the first time since February. The positivity rate was below three-percent as recently as last month. The Texas Department of State Health Services says the rapid increase indicates that the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus is spreading rapidly among unvaccinated Texans. More than 40% of Texans are fully vaccinated, but the rate of vaccination has slowed in recent weeks, and hospitalization numbers are climbing.
