The Southside ISD is adding a police guard shack to each of its campuses for the upcoming school year. A police officer in the guard shack will check people in before they get anywhere near the front door. In addition, every student in the district will participate in a school bus emergency drill. The kids will learn what to do if the bus is involved in a traffic accident or if the driver has a medical emergency. They'll also be taught how to open the emergency exits on the back, the side, and the roof of the bus.
