A federal judge in Texas is putting an end to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, otherwise known as DACA. U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Hanen ruled in favor of Texas and other Republican-led states Friday by not allowing the Biden administration to approve new applications. Hanen argued the program is illegal and the Obama administration did not have the authority to grant work permits and prevent deportations for undocumented migrants brought here as children. The ruling will not effect the more than 600,000 immigrants already enrolled in the program.
