Former San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro is joining the staff of MSNBC and NBC News as a political analyst. Castro's new position was announced Monday on social media. Castro was mayor of San Antonio from 2009 to 2014, and served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for the Obama administration from 2014 to 2017. He ran unsuccessfully for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
