Metro Health officials are reporting that nearly 60% of Bexar County residents over the age of 12 have been fully vaccinated. In addition, nearly 74% have received their first dose of the vaccine. Metro Health says it's important to be vaccinated as the number of new cases of the Delta variant continues to rise. The CDC reported on Wednesday that the Delta variant is now the dominant strain in the United States. It's more contagious than the alpha strain, but vaccines are effective against it.
