The first day of the Texas Legislature's Special Session is already over. The Texas House and Senate held brief sessions this morning before adjourning until tomorrow. Multiple bills were filed in the Senate including legislative funding, bail reform, social media regulations, and a transgender high school athlete ban. The House is referring similar bills to committees and plans to hold hearings over the weekend. Texas Democrats are promising to hold up as many bills through parliamentary procedures with Grand Prairie Representative Chris Turner accusing Governor Greg Abbott of catering to "far-right extremists" and Trump Republicans.
