A new Texas House Select Committee on Constitutional Rights and Remedies is being formed. Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan announced the committee Tuesday, saying it will study issues submitted by Governor Greg Abbott for the special session. Phelan says the 15-member committee has diverse viewpoints and will greatly help the House debate and decide potential bills. The committee will be chaired by East Texas Republican Representative Trent Ashby with Houston Democratic Representative Senfronia Thompson serving as vice chair. It's first meeting will be Thursday as the special session kicks off.
