The Texas Supreme Court is partially dismissing three sex trafficking lawsuits against Facebook. Justices ruled today the social media website could not be sued on multiple negligence accusations or products liability. They noted Facebook could face liability under the federal Allow States and Victim to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act which allows civil lawsuits regarding online sexual exploitation. Three Harris County teens filed separate lawsuits arguing they were sexually assaulted and lured into prostitution over Facebook and Facebook-owned Instagram. The case heads back to a lower court.
