Texans can soon carry handguns in public without having a permit. Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill into law that lets people carry without a license. Opponents of the bill claim it will lead to more violence, while advocates say it will allow more Texans to protect themselves from criminals. Several other states have passed similar legislation this year. The Texas law takes effect on September 1st.
