Contract talks between San Antonio city officials and the police union are underway again as of Monday. Negotiations had been suspended in April, shortly before the May 1st vote on Proposition B, a failed measure that would have denied collective bargaining rights to the San Antonio Police Officers Association. Both sides agreed to put off further talks until Saturday's runoffs, since several city council seats were at stake. The union is still resisting the city's efforts to limit the ability of a third-party arbitrator to reinstate fired officers.
