The federal government may sue Texas over its plan to revoke the licenses of shelters housing migrant children. Health and Human Services sent a letter to Governor Greg Abbott asking for clarification on the plan. HHS is worried it may cover the 52 licensed facilities in Texas helping out the Office of Refugee Resettlement. The feds note a suit would happen because Texas would be in violation of the Supremacy Clause in the U.S. Constitution giving the federal government power over immigration. Abbott issued the shelter directive last month after issuing a disaster declaration on immigration. He has until Friday to answer the feds.
