Texas Governor Greg Abbott is extremely confident there will never be a repeat of the large outages from February's winter storms. The governor signed two bills into law today requiring weatherization of all power plants in Texas and changing how the state's grid operator is managed. Abbott says there's more accountability in the system and believes the Texas Legislature did the right thing with grid reform.
Electric Reliability Council of Texas board members are now required to live in Texas and have to have previous experience as an executive in the finance, business, engineering, trading, risk management, law, or electric market design fields. The CEO position is now a non-voting board member. The reforms were passed after power was out for millions of Texans following two winter storms.
