The San Antonio City Council is discussing what to do with a pile of federal cash coming to the city from the American Rescue Plan Act. $2 trillion act is sending more than $465 million to San Antonio, and $327 million of it is already allocated to help the city's financial recovery. City staff suggested to council members Wednesday that the rest of the funds could support upgrades to city facilities, as well as programs for the homeless, mental patients, and substance abusers. The money must be spent by the end of 2026.
