The San Antonio Missions struggled to get things going against Springfield as they allowed five runs in the bottom of the first inning. They drop the series opener by a final score of 10-3.
Following a double from Kyle Overstreet in the top of the first inning, the Missions struck first with an RBI single from Eguy Rosario. This gave the Missions a 1-0 lead.
The lead didn’t last long as Springfield capitalized on a fielding error from San Antonio to score five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Missions starter Aaron Leasher was pulled in the first inning after only recording one out. Before that he was credited with five runs (four earned) on four hits.
San Antonio slowly crept back with runs in the fourth and sixth innings to cut the lead to 5-3. Olivier Basabe had an RBI single in the fourth inning and Rosario launched a solo home run in the sixth inning.
The Missions bullpen allowed five runs across the seventh and eighth innings to put the game out of reach.
