The Astros moved ahead of the Athletics for the AL West lead after downing the A's 8-4 in Oakland. Martin Maldonado homered to drive in three runs while Alex Bregman, Michael Brantley and Yuli Gurriel each had run-scoring hits for the Astros as they secured the three-game series over the A's. Jose Altuve singled in the seventh to extend his current hitting streak to 14 games and Houston is now 21-and-9 against division opponents. The Astros moved to 7-and-3 against Oakland this season and claimed sole possession of the division lead for the first time since the season started. Houston opens a three-game series in Arlington tonight against the Rangers.
