A Texas congressman may be in the running to replace Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming as the GOP's House conference chair. House Republicans ousted Cheney from the position on Wednesday, partly because she voted to impeach Donald Trump last year. Rep. Chip Roy, an Austin Republican, may be considering a run against Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, who is interested in the post. House Republicans are expected to vote on a new conference chair, the third highest spot in party House leadership, on Friday.
