A fire has destroyed a well-known northwest side restaurant.
Flames were shooting from The Grill at Leon Springs when firefighters arrived just before 1 a.m. Firefighters quickly called a second alarm for additional support before being able to get the blaze under control. The restaurant was a total loss.
The original Rudy's Country Store and BBQ is located next door. Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading and it was saved.
The Grill at Leon Springs is notable for being the first Romano's Macaroni Grill. Founded in 1988, it later kept the name "The Grill" as it continued to operate on its own.
No injuries were reported. An investigation is underway to determine a cause of the fire.
