The Texas Oil and Gas Association is working to keep the state Legislature from requiring the natural gas industry to winterize its statewide assets. The new regulatory proposals are in response to the winter storm in February, which led to widespread power outages that caused more than 100 deaths in Texas. The natural gas industry says outages at power plants caused problems at natural gas production and supply facilities that rely on electricity. But the Electric Reliability Council of Texas says some power plants suffered outages because they weren't getting enough natural gas.
