A tornado left damage in the Hondo area and other areas also had wind and hail damage as storms rolled through South Texas.
There were numerous Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings issued as a series of storms developed Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.
In the Hondo area, some roof damage was reported and trees knocked down. Off highway 90, a convenience store had some metal roofing blown off and many cars sustained hail damage from softball size hail. Due to the storm, Hondo schools cancelled classes on Thursday in order to survey the damage. They'll resume classes on Friday.
There were also reports of damage in the Castroville area. In San Antonio large hail fell in some areas of the city, with heavy rain causing street flooding that left some cars stranded in high water.
At one point, more than 30,000 CPS Energy customers were without power as the storms rolled through. As of 7 a.m., some 5,000 customers were still without electricity.
Hail damage was also reported in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as storms also blew through North Texas overnight.
