Texas senators are considering a bill that would require the state's public schools to provide education about domestic and dating violence. The bill is named for Christine Blubaugh of Grand Prairie, who was 16 years old when her ex-boyfriend murdered her in 2000. Senate Bill 1109 would mandate four to eight hours of age-appropriate education over the course of several school years. Christine's relatives and Grand Prairie police officers spoke in favor of the bill on Tuesday morning before the Senate education committee.
