Appeal Hearing For Death Row Inmate Rescheduled Again

An appeal hearing for death row inmate Rodney Reed is rescheduled for the third time. The 21st District Court in Bastrop County reset Reed's evidentiary hearing for July 19th. Reed was convicted in 1998 of capital murder for the 1996 strangulation death of Stacey Stites in Bastrop County. He has maintained his innocence all along and wants his conviction overturned. Reed received a stay of execution in November 2019, at which time the current appeal hearing was granted.
